Laser Hair Removal Q & A

by Elaheh Farhadian

Does laser hair removal hurt?

If you've ever had your eyebrows waxed, you'll be able to handle laser hair removal. Most men and women describe it painless or as feeling like they're being stung with small rubber band. While some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, you won't be in pain, because Dr. Farhadian adjusts and programs the laser machine with appropriate and customized energy level that can minimize any discomfort you may have.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Yes. You'll need several visits to be "hair free" though. A few weeks after your first session, you'll notice that less hair is re-growing. The hair that does grow back will probably be lighter and thinner.

You'll continue having fewer and thinner returning hairs with each additional treatment. Most men and women need about six to eight sessions to officially get rid of unwanted hair, depending on the coarseness of your hair. Once it's gone, it'll be gone for good, but in some cases, you might need to do touch up or maintenance treatment once a year.
