While you may think that frequent breakouts stem from oily skin or poor skincare habits, the problem is deeper than that. Active acne is an inflammatory skin condition, so you should visit your primary care physician, Dr. Farhadian.

Usually the breakouts occur on your face, chest, back, or neck, although you can have active acne anywhere on your body. You could go through severe outbreaks every few years, and if they aren't treated properly, you may be left with severe acne scarring.

Botox is a purified type of botulinum toxin-A, used both medically and FDA approved for cosmetic treatment for frown lines above eyebrows and wrinkles. It treats certain muscular conditions by blocking habitual muscle contractions that results in a common wrinkle of the face and neck, and temporarily reducing over contraction of facial muscles to help soften the wrinkles so that you're left in visibly smoother skin.

Fillers do just what the name says, fill in your skin. When you have fine lines, wrinkles, or deep grooves that clearly give away your age, dermal filler injections help plump up the area. Each type of filler works differently, and Dr. Farhadian can help you figure out which one is best for you. Some fillers add collagen to your skin, some are made with a substance that absorbs water to plump your skin, while others are made with a gel-like substance that smooths the signs of aging. 

Botox and fillers have a similar outcome: They smooth out wrinkles. But each one works differently. Botox primary objective is to treat and prevent facial dynamic wrinkles which occur when the face is in motion or making expression, which are usually positioned in the forehead and around the eyebrows. Fillers on the other hand are ideal for static wrinkles, these are the depleted and sunken in that are visible even when your face is relaxed and making no expression. Over the years, with each smile, frown, or worried look, your facial muscles that contract to make those expressions leave deep grooves and wrinkles behind.

You may feel a slight sting, but Dr. Farhadian is highly skilled at giving injections, so she knows exactly how to make them as painless as possible. If you'd like, Dr. Farhadian can apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure to lessen any discomfort.

Contain injections are only designed to be used on specific areas, so Dr. Farhadian recommends which injection is right for you depending on what you're trying to achieve. In general, Botox and dermal fillers can improve the appearance of your skin or reduce wrinkles:

• Between your eyebrows
• Along your forehead
• At the corners of your eyes (crow's feet)

If you've ever had your eyebrows waxed, you'll be able to handle laser hair removal. Most men and women describe it painless or as feeling like they're being stung with a small rubber band. While some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, you won't be in pain, because Dr. Farhadian adjusts and programs the laser machine with an appropriate and customized energy level that can minimize any discomfort you may have.

Yes. You'll need several visits to be "hair free" though. A few weeks after your first session, you'll notice that less hair is re-growing. The hair that does grow back will probably be lighter and thinner.

You'll continue having fewer and thinner returning hairs with each additional treatment. Most men and women need about six to eight sessions to officially get rid of unwanted hair, depending on the coarseness of your hair. Once it's gone, it'll be gone for good, but in some cases, you might need to do touch up or maintenance treatment once a year.
